The Tooth Fairy Strikes Again

Atticus lost his first two teeth 6 months sooner than Charlie lost his. I am personally not pleased about the way it went down.

We were visiting Mark's sister in Atlanta. She has a VERY energetic 3-year-old. Now, I have three boys and I know they pack like dogs. Not often just the three of them, but throw any others in the mix and it's trouble. Any kind of nudity and the energy is times ten. We were at the playground with some new friends, this woman has a boy Max's age (4) and a boy in Atticus's kindergarten class. Well, the mom and I were chatting and before we knew it, the boys were all shirtless and running around like a rabid pack of wolves. That was the same day we had to have the talk with Max about showing his private parts in public. The mom declared, dumbfounded, "It's like Lord of the Flies."

Anyway, back to Atlanta. It was right after bath, they were all naked, and you can only imagine how crazy it was. Then suddenly Atticus and his cousin collided. I saw something white in his cousin's hair. Atticus picked whatever it was out of his hair, looked at it, then threw it on the ground. I picked it up, and lo and behold, it was his tooth. One of his bottom center teeth. It would have been all good if it wasn't bleeding.

The second bottom incisor (as Charlie informed me) was hanging by a thread, laying perfectly perpendicular to the ground. It took another week for him to get the guts to pull it out, of course in the middle of gymnastics class.

Check out my post "Fairy, Fairy Quite Contrary." Yes, from the Tooth Fairy Atticus got $10 ($5 for each tooth) and a Bakugan and movie since they were his first.

Surprise! Max is Hilarious

As I was reading through some of my previous posts I saw how most of my funny stories are about Atticus and Charlie because a year ago Max was not really talking intelligibly. Well, everything has changed. Yesterday we were driving Daddy's car and he insisted on listening to sports radio. Thank goodness he thinks sports radio is only in Daddy's car. I was tuning out the radio of course but then Maxie piped up:

"Mom, are the Hankies going to beat LeBron James?"

I explained that the team is the Yankees, not the Hankies, and that they are a baseball team and LeBron James plays basketball. I added that probably, if the Yankees were to play LeBron James, Lebron James would win.

How Fast Time Goes By

I cannot believe how fast time can go by - it's been a long time since I have posted anything substantial. Other things just seem to take precedence. I've decided to make this a little more personal - not really worrying whether or not each post is brilliant or poingnant to the general public, but rather something the boys can enjoy when they are older.

The Boys at School

Charlie has been doing great in 1st grade. He's made his Accelerated Reader goal every quarter and his reading has really come along. He is also obsessed with geography. it started with the globe in the classroom. Then Mrs. Helenthal said "You have to get this kid a globe." He had been sitting in his room studying the tiny globe he has. He even got out the "Dinosaurs" book that has a small map of where that particular dinosaur lived, and he finds it on the map.

Atticus has been working really hard in Kindergarten to pull it together with the self-control. He has also struggled with handwriting but he's overcome everything we've asked of him. His reading is great. He may be above average. He loves to read, but still feels intimidated by books at home and prefers his "sight word" books.

Maxie is doing great at preschool and LOVES it. He loves it so much in fact that he is going to two four-year-old classes next year. He'll have Mrs. Zych MWF and Mrs. Kurth TR. He writes his name and counts to 20 and besically does everytihng he can to keep up with his brothers.
